make: `install' is up to date. on Mac OS X

Howdy, two posts in two days, I hope I can keep this update frequency.

Anyway I had to search nearly the whole internet before finding the solution to my latest problem and that's why I'm going to share this with you and hopefully help others, too.

So here's the deal: I wanted to compile catdoc on Mac OS X. What you do is basicly not more than opening a terminal and do the usual

    ./configure
    make
    sudo make install

But in some cases like in mine make install just fails saying "make: `install' is up to date." which of course puzzles you as you're pretty sure that you don't have catdoc and that it isn't up date in any way.

It seems that in these cases OS X is filenames case-insensitive and thus tries to make the INSTALL file which comes with the source package.

What you do now is just go and rename INSTALL to whatever you like, I did INSTALL_. After you renamed INSTALL try running make install again, now it should do what it is supposed to do.

Ok, now you know how to compile catdoc on Mac OS X, but you might think "what the heck is he talking about, I always thought he's a Windows guy?!". So yeah, with this post that cat is out of the bag, too:

    Hello, I'm a Mac ;-)
